In early 2019, the EU-wide Falsified Medicines Directive 2011/62/EU came into force. From this point onwards, prescription medicines must be provided with serialisation codes and tamper-evident seals to protect patients. The new safety system enables the seamless traceability of prescription-only pharmaceuticals with the help of individual 2D data matrix coding. The unique code of each container contains important encrypted manufacturing data such as batch number and expiration date and gives each container its own unique number. The tamper-evident seal also ensures that no manipulated pharmaceuticals can come into circulation. Falsified medication should therefore be combated and prevented in a targeted manner in order to ensure the well-being of patients.

SOLUTIONS We at MoNo have faced the complexity of serialisation head-on in order to help our customers experience a smooth transition.
