COMPANY HISTORY In 1949, ‘Sigmapharm’ was founded by Prof Dr Herbert Pichler and Dr Herbert Punzengruber in Vienna. Many will remember Prof Dr Pichler as a space physician and commentator of the first moon landing.
In 2000, the production department was demerged to form the independent company MoNo chem-pharm Produkte GmbH. Today, our organisation comprises MoNo chem-pharm Produkte GmbH and Sigmapharm Arzneimittel GmbH.
TODAY, we are an independent pharmaceutical company in Austria which provides development, production, quality control, regulatory and distribution services from a single source. With decades of experience in the manufacturing of our product range and in aseptic process technology, MoNo/Sigmapharm is positioned as an all-purpose service provider and manufacturer.
QUALITY The manufacture of pharmaceutical products and medical devices is sophisticated and subject to numerous regulations and laws. As such, many companies are opting to do without their own production facilities. In response to this shift, we opened our second production site in Hornstein in 2019.
At MoNo, the best possible quality is guaranteed by a number of approaches:
- A comprehensive process-oriented quality assurance system, which is continuously being expanded, ensures compliance with all relevant standards. Our two production sites in Hornstein and Vienna are EU-GMP and EN ISO 13485 and EU-MDR compliant. All manufacturing processes are vetted by the quality control department and monitored by the quality assurance department. This guarantees the highest product quality and ensures compliance with GMP guidelines and ISO standards.
- We set very high standards for our raw material suppliers and our supply chain management ensures that only goods of the highest quality from certified suppliers are used for production.
- In our production plant, our highly qualified employees have access to state-of-the-art premises and operate cutting-edge equipment. We take our responsibilities in the production of pharmaceuticals very seriously. Our employees are trained continuously and according to the order they are processing.
As an established, independent Austrian company, we do not allow share prices or profit maximisation to determine our actions. We are driven by the desire to reliably provide products and services at a consistently high level of quality, staying true to our expertise and future-oriented corporate management approach.
